Ben and Holly Torrens created the Prayer Angel to serve as an inspirational reminder to pray for family and friends. The idea began with Holly’s parents, who save greeting cards they receive throughout the year. They pick one per day, and pray for the person that sent the card throughout the day. Ben and Holly loved the idea and adopted the tradition themselves. They would place the card on the kitchen counter as a visual reminder of who they were praying for that day, but the cards frequently fell over.
At the time, Ben was creating metal figurines out of metal nails and washers as a hobby to give as gifts to family and friends. He created one of a person kneeling with hands extended in prayer with a space to hold cards. The cards were placed in the hands of the figurine. Ben made one for Holly’s parents and soon after Ben was getting requests for more from others who saw and loved the idea. That is when they decided to create an elegant and inspirational way to hold the cards.
“We decided on a simple and contemporary white porcelain angel design, which allows the angel to adapt to whatever or whomever it is embracing.”
They soon realized that more than a saved greeting card could be placed in the prayer angel’s embrace. Now the Prayer Angel is used to embrace photos, memorial cards, inspirational cards, and many other items.
The name Prayer Angel was chosen to say it all, an angel to pray for and inspire prayer for family and friends.
